Can’t beat the beaches in Finland

Did you know that a tourist can enjoy sandy beaches even in Finland? In this story, we have collected some impressive, yet less known, beaches around Finland. We recommend that you hire a car and start your beachy exploration.

1. Kaunissaari, Pyhtää – southeastern Finland

Imagine a ferry sailing across the blue sea – what could feel more like a vacation? 2. Nallikari, Oulu – northern Finland

3. Vattajanniemi, Kokkola – western Finland

Did you know that one of the longest beaches in the Nordics is located in Finland? The Vattaja beach and its dunes reaches up to 15 km. The beach is close to its natural state, and it lures not only sun lovers but also cyclists, hikers and bird enthusiasts. You can also reach the close-by Ohtakari island via a causeway and explore its fisherman village and museum. 4. Ärjänsaari, Kajaani – northern Finland

We have listed many great seaside destinations but when in Finland, never forget lakes. Ärjänsaari island at Oulujärvi sea is surrounded by shallow sandy beaches. In the past, it has been a sacred place for indigenous Sami people and a holiday paradise for employees of a forest company. 5. Haukanhieta, Ruovesi – middle Finland

Haukanhieta beach is located in Helvetinjärvi national park about one hour drive from Tampere and three hours from Helsinki. Even though this national park is commonly known for its majestic rock sceneries, Haukanhieta is a beautiful sandy beach. It is close to parking area, and there are  campfire sites, cooking shelters, a well and dry toilets. You can even camp in a tent here.
